In 1823, Ezekiel Hargrove’s great-great-great-great-grandfather collapsed on this unforgiving land – the first of many Hargroves to pour their blood, sweat and souls into cracked, parched soil that gave back nothing but starving cattle and dead grass. Generations worked their hands to the bone, yet the only thing that ever reliably grew was the family graveyard.
Eunice, Ezekiel’s wife, had a passion for family history. She built a scarecrow to represent every relative who had lived and died here, from the first to the last. She continued until the day a bull charged her while she tried to coax milk from a sickly cow. That was the final blow. Broken and alone, Ezekiel spent his dying breath cursing the land and his bloodline, vowing that these worthless fields would never prosper again.
No one was left to hear him, but something was listening. As the sun bleached his bones, scarecrows began to stir, shuffling across the dirt, the sound of rustling burlap on the wind. They were all that remained and they would make sure no one ever returned.
Hop off the shuttle bus and get ready for a summer camp experience that's so much fun, you'll absolutely scream! After a year off for clean up and renovations of the facilities, we're proud to announce that we now offer archery and axe throwing lessons, sailing classes, fishing excursions, and overnight backcountry hiking among some other new activities you'll have to see to believe. We've also created a new central bonfire meeting place where campers can sing, roast marshmallows, and get to know one another within earshot of the new counselor cabins so you know your teens will be safe and supervised.
If you're bringing your kids right to the camp and happen to talk to some of the locals in the surrounding towns, ignore their spooky stories about cults worshipping forest spirits in the hills. They're all just stories and folklore. Besides, the reports of fires, chanting and sacrifices in the woods stopped years ago. We're confident that they're all just tall tales made up to scare away outsiders because they got too wrapped up in the Satanic Panic of the 1980s.
Long ago, this quiet little town was just another forgotten railway stop along the countryside. One autumn evening, a travelling circus rolled into town, promising laughter, wonder, and unforgettable entertainment. But behind the painted smiles lurked something far more sinister.
When the circus was over and time came to pack up, the clowns refused to leave. Under the cover of darkness, they turned on the ringmaster, cut themselves free from the circus, and claimed the town as their own. One by one, the townspeople disappeared. Soon, the town was abandoned.
When there were no more locals to hunt, the clowns guarded their new home jealously, descending on intruders and explorers alike. Wandering the streets watching, waiting, and wanting for more people to add to the audience for their gruesome performance.
They clowns know you're here. They saw you pass the city limits sign without a care in the world. Will you make it out alive, or will you feed their need for a captive audience? Every building hides another nightmare. Every laugh could be your last.
